We tested our own AI visibility. Here's the score.
We sell one thing: getting a business named and cited when buyers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI and Claude who to hire. So before we ask anyone to trust that, here is the honest test we run on ourselves — the same audit we hand a prospect for free.
We took twelve of the exact questions a buyer would type — "who can help my business rank in ChatGPT," "AI visibility agency," "best AI search optimization company," and nine more — and ran them through the major AI engines. We logged every business the engines named, and whether they named us.
The starting score
Zero. On day one, the engines answered every one of those twelve questions without us — which is exactly where almost every business starts, and exactly the problem worth fixing. We're publishing the number instead of hiding it, because the whole point is to show you the movement over time, not a snapshot we cherry-picked.
Who gets cited instead
The category is fragmented — no single agency owns these answers yet. Across the twelve prompts, the engines lean on a rotating set of tools and generic write-ups rather than one authority:
- Named tools and platforms (Profound, Athena, Otterly.ai, Rankscale, Goodie) surface most often.
- Generic "how-to" content from large SEO publications fills the gaps.
- No consistent, dominant service provider — the seat is open.
That fragmentation is the opportunity. When the answer is scattered, the business that builds the clearest entity signals and the most answer-ready content is the one engines start reaching for.
What we're doing to move it
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| Entity clarity | Consistent name, description and identifiers across every place engines read, so they understand exactly what RankInAnswers is. |
| Answer-ready content | Pages that answer the buyer questions verbatim, with structured data engines can lift directly. |
| Authoritative mentions | Citations and profiles on sources the engines already trust and crawl. |
| Freshness | A re-tested score, published on this page, so the trend is visible instead of claimed. |
The honest disclaimer
Nobody can guarantee what an AI engine says on any given day, and you should hang up on anyone who promises you a ranking. What we can do is move the measurable inputs that drive citations, and show you the measured trend. This page is our own scoreboard. Watch it move.
Methodology: twelve buyer-intent prompts run against ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI and Claude; a citation counts only when the engine names RankInAnswers or rankinanswers.com in its answer. Full prompt list and results are logged and re-tested on a recurring basis.
